This is a replacement Battery suitable for the A3010, A3020, A4000, A5000, RiscPC and A7000/+
The battery is vertically mounted. Note that replacing the battery requires the motherboard to be removed and the old battery to be desoldered first.
The batteries come with the connecting pins welded on for superior reliability and longevity.
For versions of RISC OS from 3.60 onwards, in order to save your CMOS settings before changing the battery, double click on !Boot and from the menu option, choose "Save CMOS".
When the battery starts to fail, it breaks down chemically and goes furry this will damage the PCB long before symptoms of date/time corruption or CMOS setting loss, unfortunately irreversible damage is often done before the above symptoms occur!
This item is a single 'cell' so it shouldn't really be referred to as a 'battery' which means two or more cells working in series. The term 'battery', however, is now frequently used when referring to a single cell and some modern dictionaries are now reflecting this.
n.b. Acorn originally fitted a Varta V280H battery, these are no longer available, this unit is a suitable replacement.
